Welcome to the latest 4PLAS newsletter, this month we wanted to update you about work we've been doing with customers to substitute current material. Here at 4PLAS we are regularly contacted by existing or potential customers who are having issues with new generation FR-ABS materials, these are mainly problems with melt flow, colour consistency, flow lines and impact performance. We have found that offering our UL approved 4LEX® flame retardant Polycarbonate material can overcome these issues it can also be made using recycled materials and as such is often more cost effective .
4LEX® FR-PC has similar density to FR-ABS and in many cases can be more cost effective in brighter colours, the material is easy flowing offers excellent impact and better UV performance and improved heat performance. Another major advantage is our lead times and availability which can be as low as 2 working weeks for small to medium size lots .
We also regularly work with our existing and potential customers on substituting high performance engineering plastics again where strong colours and flame retardants is often a must.
Materials such as FR Glass filled PPO, PET and PBT and some FR-PP grades as well as more exotic alloys, especially those in colours and smaller lot sizes can be very costly and difficult to source. Our 4TECH® range of high performance engineering materials offers our customers a viable alternative at competitive pricing, even for custom colours and smaller lots, with the added benefit of sensible lead times.
